Campeche is located 196 km from Mérida and is the only fortified city in the whole of Mexico. It constitutes a good place in which to spend a peaceful, relaxing break on the Yucatán Peninsula.

My suggestion:
As in most towns and cities in Mexico, the museums in Campeche are closed on Mondays. Plan to do something else that day instead.
Summary:
Campeche is perhaps not one of the first cities you think of going to visit on a trip to Mexico. It's a shame this is the case, and it's something that needs to change as it really is a wonderful place. Campeche is in fact inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage.

A lovely town in the south of Mexico.

My suggestion:
Why not find out more about Campeche's night life - it's very lively!
Summary:
Campeche is a charming colonial town in the region of Campeche, which neighbors Yucatan, in the south of Mexico. I love wandering round its many narrow cobbled streets, admiring the multi-colored facades of the old colonial buildings and the colonnaded terraces in faded colors.
