Founded in the 17th century, the town has had to move a few hundreds of metres due to the lowering of the sea level which occurred after its creation. Today, Lulea has the appearance of a medium-sized city (around 50,000 inhabitants), and has an important university and diverse research centres which energise the city centre which has may cafés and restaurants. <a href="/sweden/">During my stay in Sweden</a>, I spent a day in Lulea and I was pleasantly surprised by the city, its little pedestrianised centre, its neo-Gothic cathedral, I wouldn't necessarily recommend a stop in the regional capital of Norrbotten, the city doesn't offer many tourist sites of interest. However, Lulea can prove itself to be a good base, to whoever goes to this part of Sweden, to explore the natural marvels of the region.
