If you have the chance to visit <a href="/sweden/">Stockholm</a>,run to The Vasa Museum! No excuses to be had. No "I don't like museums" or "boats just aren't my thing". The place is so impressive that it will immediately blow away all of your reluctances. During my visit, a never-ending queue to get in almost made me turn back. But, to my great surprise, I was able to enter the almost magical atmosphere of The Vasa Museum a lot quicker than I expected. Inside, the ship is breathtaking. View from the ground, its mass captivates and silences those who see it. But you can see under (almost) all the seams thanks to an intelligent stage design made of walkways on several levels. An experience that will delight young and old, lovers of cultural and historical visits, curious people and dreamers.

The most visited museum in Scandinavia, The Vasa is indisputably a must-see in Stockholm. It contains a war ship from the 17th century in an extraordinary state of conservation.

I am definitely one of those people and nonetheless I adored it! OK, the boat sank during its inaugural voyage in 1628, but it's no less impressive for that, and it's not every day that you have the chance to get so close to such a big wreck! It also helps you to understand the town's history a bit better, to have an idea of the heritage left by the Vikings, but also to understand how important marine navigation is to the country. The museum's several floors are built around the boat. There are also explanations of the methods they used to get the boat out of the water. A positive point for the winter: the cloakrooms where you can leave your coats and other bulky items are free. Are there any negative points? ...the boat is much too big to get all of it in one photo! Apart from that (and is it really a problem?), nothing! I strongly advise you to go on the visit, adults as well as the children, who will spend their visit dreaming about being "pirate-vikings"!
