Saint-Florent is a popular seaside resort located right at the very back of the Gulf of Saint-Florent.

My suggestion:
Begin your trip to Corsica with a visit to Saint-Florent.
Summary:

When Saint-Florent first comes into sight it creates a wonderful, memorable impression. You first spot the port, with its boats of all sizes, then the warm colours of the town itself. Saint-Florent is a popular coastal resort that attracts all kinds of boats, right through to the most luxurious of yachts and ferry services.

A former Genoese town with an ancient citadel, Saint-Florent provides the perfect environment in which to go for a walk and absorb the local atmosphere as you get your stay in Corsica off to a start. The town's ochre-coloured walls add to the impression of calm that reigns over it. The square bell tower of Saint-Florent Church, standing out clearly when you arrive, draws you to the town centre. The Romanesque church in Nebbiu is another charming building, and well worth making a special trip to see. Saint-Florent's Genoese citadel is circular in appearance. The town really comes alive in the evening.

With its location between Cap Corse and the désert des Agriates, Saint-Florent is a good place from which to explore the rest of Corsica.
