A port town with nothing to recommend it.

My suggestion:
Although you can find the best sate in the country there.
Summary:

Like most Malaysians villages, Port Dickson is not heaving with attractions, tradition or interesting things to see. It's a little railway town near the sea. However you can't go swimming there because the Malacca Strait's troubled waters, which are a direct result of Indonesia's harmful environmental policy, mean you don't have any inclination to paddle in them.

I arrived there by chance, invited to stay with his family by a Malaysian friend. He took me to a little cafe that served the "best sate in the country" and it's true that they were very good. I walked along boring roads as far as the sea before leaving with the feeling that Port Dickson isn't somewhere you really have to go during a trip to Malaysia.

Port Dickson is a small seaside resort that is one hour by car from Kuala Lumpur, and its most frequent visitors at the weekend are locals.

My suggestion:
If you don't have a lot of time in Malaysia then you should go to the more beautiful beaches like Penang or to the west coast. But Port Dickson is nice if you want somewhere to relax near to Kuala Lumpur.
Summary:

During a trip to Malaysia, Port Dickson isn't a priority because the country is full of sublime sandy beaches. However, if you are at Kuala Lumpur and would like to escape a town full of sky scrapers then Port Dickson is pleasant place to go.

It's easy to spend a day or a weekend there. There are lots of hotels in this little seaside resort. The beaches are not as beautiful as you can find elsewhere but the climate is very pleasant.

Among the interesting places to see are the lighthouse, which gives you a good view of the beach, and also the Yacht Club, founded by expatriates in 1927. In fact, Port Dickson is full of beautiful boats because it's also an important oil facility.
