Ankevo is a fine example of community solidarity. For the past fifteen years, the ADDA (association for the sustainable development of Ankevo) has been working to improve the quality of life for the inhabitants of three villages: Ankevo sur Mer, Ankevo Antety and Atsaloa.
Summary:
In addition to building two schools, some wells and a bread oven, and organising nursing care, literacy courses, etc., they have also built a few eco-tourism bungalows with the aid of the villagers. They are run by the inhabitants and are conducive to new encounters and discoveries for travellers.
A trip to Ankevo will immerse you in the life of a Menabe village. After you have been warmly welcomed by the villagers, you will enjoy the evening in your bungalow by the light of a solar lamp powered by the day’s sunlight...
Not to mention the beautiful beach, the crystal clear waters, the lazy pirogues... and a sacred baobab tree, the biggest of the island with a circumference of 22 metres!
