At nearly 100 km from Reykjavik, it is a good base from which to visit the south of the island, especially for those who want to enjoy one of the most beautiful hotels in the country.

My suggestion:
Ideal for a romantic getaway, it is also the perfect place in winter to admire the Northern Lights.
Summary:

Hella is a small town in the south of the country and is known mainly for the Hotel Ranga, one of the most beautiful and luxurious hotels in the country. I had the opportunity to eat at the Hotel Ranga restaurant a few years ago and I remember it as very pleasant, with quality service and refined cuisine.

If you're planning a romantic holiday, it is a great place to stay close to the heart of Icelandic nature and not far from many of the natural sites of the south, such as Landmannalaugar, Skogar, Thorsmork, etc.

Thanks to its small size and proximity to Reykjavik, Hella is also an excellent spot in winter for those who want to venture a little further afield than the capital, notably to admire the Northern Lights.
