In South China's Xinjiangun Province, on the border with Pakistan, there is a Kyrghy village called Idara, where around thirty families live.
My suggestion:
Enjoy an unforgettable experience in the company of the locals. In the evenings they open their yurts to travelers and invite them to spend the night. It makes for a unique evening, and it's something I very strongly recommend!
Summary:
We are in the Ghez Valley here, a land of nomadic Kyrghyz shepherds and a paradise for trekkers.
From Idara, the most well-known and popular excursion is the trip to Karakul Lake, which lies at an altitude of 3,600 meters and is one of the most beautiful places in the Pamir region. To get there you travel by camel: a 15-kilometer journey that takes five hours. Once you arrive, you begin your tour of the lake. During the four-hour hike you will get to see and admire the magnificent, deserted landscapes of the steppes, which are overlooked by the mountains of Muztagh Ata and Gonger (7,500 meters high).
Another trip you can do is the trek to Qaltumak, a Kyrghyz nomad village. This is where the inhabitants keep their yak, camel and donkey herds during the summer.
