100km from Sucre, Amboró National Park boasts 400,000 hectares of rainforest. It's an opportunity to explore a hostile jungle and to discover the astonishing diversity of plants and animals.
My suggestion:
You're not allowed to go into the park by yourself. Always pay attention to what your guide says. Here, a simple ant bite can be problematic.
Summary:
Make no mistake, travelling in Bolivia should not necessarily be limited to the Altiplano and the high altitude regions. Bolivia is also an extraordinarily contemporary Amazonian forest. Here, you can challenge yourself and discover a truly unknown world 100 kilometres north of Sucre, in Amboró National Park.
You'll need to be accompanied by a guide if you want to explore this rainforest. Keep your senses on high alert. The jungle is swarming and the noises are disturbing. You'll feel and hear things, but you'll need to be paying close attention if you want to see one of the 800 species of bird, anteaters, monkeys or, if you're lucky, the famous jaguar. Don't bother looking for insects, they'll find you. So you should always wear clothes which cover your arms and legs.
