The moment I arrived at Laguna Colorada, during my trip to Bolivia, was one of the most emotionally incredible experiences I've ever had on my travels. I felt as if I could almost reach out and touch the very magnificence of the place and actually taste its incredible beauty. That first arrival at Laguna Colorada was an indescribably magical moment. Though the lake lies surrounded by high volcanos, what is really most incredible about it is its blood-red water. How can it possibly be this colour? I've never seen anything like it before in my life. It's a glorious sight. To complete this already incredible picture, the lake is home to thousands of pink flamingoes, which stalk around in the water feeding on the microscopic algae that give the lake its spectacular colour. Even today, after returning from my trip, the image of this lake still remains one of my best memories of my travels around Bolivia. I strongly advise you to try and get to this gorgeous place and feast your eyes on its visual splendour.
