The itinerary has been created by our local agency with one idea in mind: to inspire you. Every element can be adapted to your needs and interests, from duration to accommodation and activities.

Day 1: Airport - Makassar  

Upon arrival at the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, you will be picked up by your driver and will be transferred to your hotel  in Makassar.  


Day 2: Makassar, Historical Trip  

In the morning you will be picked up for a trip around the city of Makassar. Makassar (called Ujung Pandang between 1972 and 1999) is the lively capital of South-Sulawesi and because of its central location, the city functions already for centuries as a gate to the eastern islands of Indonesia. Makassar also has a rich historical past with two powerful kingdoms that were able to resist the Dutch colonial forces for many years. During your city tour you will visit several historical places. 

The port of Rotterdam (Benteng Ujung Pandang) in the centre of Makassar is a well-preserved remain of that past, within the fort you will find an interesting museum dispelling a wide variety of historical items. In the old harbor of Paotere many wooden pinisi boats anchor and load and unload their cargo. From Paotere you drive to the south of Makassar, to the former Gowa kingdom. Here you will visit the sultan’s palace called Balla lompoa (or literally ‘the big house’),  the Katangka mosque originally built in 1603, Hasanuddin grave-complex consisting of several grave tombs belonging to the rulers of Gowa and finally the ruins of the Somba Opu fort. Near this fort there is a small museum and you will find several traditional houses of different areas  in South Sulawesi. In the afternoon you will be taken back to your hotel.


Day 3: Makassar - Toraja  

Today you will be transferred from Makassar to  Toraja/Rantepao. On the way you will stop at Puncak  Lakawan. This is a place to break the day for all the visitors  who make the trip from Makassar to Rantepao or vice versa. You can having cup of coffee while enjoy the spectacular  view of Mt. Kabobong.


Day 4: Toraja, Culture Tour  

In the morning you will be picked up from the hotel and then we set for a full day exploring Toraja. First, we will visit Lemo to see rows of Tau Tau statues and the hanging graves.  Onwards to Suaya to discover the secret of the Baby Tree,  and also visiting Londa, to see an ancient grave where the deceased are entombed. At Kete Kesu, one of the oldest Torajan villages, we can see Tongkonan and the old rice barns, also famous for its traditional colorful woodcarving.  In the afternoon we return to your hotel. 


Day 5: Toraja - Sengkang  

Today you will be transferred from Toraja to Sengkang. On the way you will stop at Silk Factory. In this place all visitors can witness the process of planting mulberry, which is the staple food of the silkworm, silkworm's way maintenance,  the process of spinning silkworm to silk weaving manner.

Day 6: Sengkang – Lake Tempe - Bira  

After breakfast, you will be guided to a small pier where you board a traditional colorful motorized canoe. The canoe trip will take you through the small Walennea River to the Tempe Lake, a lake that covers an area of at least 1.000 ha in the dry season and expands to around 35.000 ha during the wet season when all surrounding areas are flooded. On the lake, you can observe the local fishermen catch fish in different ways using nets, fishing roads, and bamboo fences. More than 20 species of water birds can be seen at this lake. Some of the fishermen live in floating houses near the edge of the lake. You will visit a floating house to drink tea and coffee together with its inhabitants.

After the Lake Tempe excursion, the driver will bring you to Bira. Tanjung Bira or Bira Cape is  one of the tourist attractions in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. Main tourist attraction of  Tanjung Bira is diving, swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. You can also watch the sunset  or sunrise in the same position. This area can be reached in about 5.5 hours' drive from  Sengkang. Some visits can be done on the way to destination.

Day 7: Bira, Free at Leisure  

Today is your fee program at Leisure. Enjoy the hotel facilities and doing some relaxing times.

Day 9: Bira - Makassar  

The driver will pick you up in Bira and bring you to Makassar. Makassar, (sometimes spelled Macassar, Mangkasara) formerly called Ujung Pandang is the provincial capital of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, and the largest city in Sulawesi Island. From 1971 to 1999, the city was formally named Ujung Pandang and after a precolonial fort in the city, and the two names are often used interchangeably. Makassar has become the primary port and airline hub of the eastern archipelago, the thousands of remote islands being developed and incorporated into the mainstream of Indonesian society and economy. This city can be reached in about 5,5 hours drive from Bira.

Day 10: Departure

The driver will pick you up and drive you to the next destination. Here is the end of your program.
