Pura Luhur Batukaru is one of Bali's temples. Situated at the foot of the Batukaru Volcano, it's got an enchanting atmosphere.

My suggestion:
Make sure you wear sturdy shoes, as the paths to the temple are gravelled.
Summary:

The temple situated at the foot of the volcano is soothing. Lost in the middle of nowhere (a dense forest not far from town), it's in a lush, humid environment, which only lends to the mystical feel of the place.

If you take a walk here, you'll get lost in your own, little world and feel the sense of calm as you make the most of its quiet. It doesn't attract a lot of visitors, which only adds to the mood. This temple encourages introspection.

What's more I loved the journey to Pura Luhur Batukaru from Ubud. The mountain views and rice fields were stunning, even if typical of Bali.

An interesting fact: it's one of nine directional temples in Bali, its function being to protect the island
