China's festivals and public holidays
Whatever their size and their attraction to tourists, all of China's towns have bigger or smaller festivals spread over the year. It's up to you to choose what atmosphere you prefer: intimate and authentic in the minority villages, outrageous in Beijing or Shanghai, spectacular on the high Tibetan plains, etc. A piece of advice to festival lovers: carefully check the festival calendar of the region you are going to, and how often they are held, according to whether you like or don't like crowds!
