Banlung is the capital of Ratanakiri, the most northern province of Cambodia, between Vietnam and Laos.

My suggestion:
Get up early and go round the town's market where you will see people from the surrounding villages selling their produce, fruit and vegetables. The atmosphere is great.
Summary:

Banlung is a very tranquil town; because it's quite remote, few visitors go there and the town has an air of being at the ends of the earth. There is a nice walk around Yeak Laom lake, which is about 5 kilometres from the centre of town. It is a lake in the crater of a dormant volcano which is considered sacred by the inhabitants, although you can still (and should) swim there.

There is also a temple at Banlung, Wat Rahtanharahm, about one kilometre outside the town. The temple is on Eisey Patamak mountain, and if you continue to climb you will see a large recumbent Buddha and have a wonderful view over the surroundings. Banlung is ideal for those who like to get off the beaten track.
