Kratié is a peaceful little town lying on the banks of the Mekong River, 340 km from Phnom Penh.
My suggestion
At sunset, the Mekong takes on a magical golden colour. This is the best time to see the pink Irrawaddy dolphins.
Kratie is most famous for trips along the Mekong in a - fruitless - search for the fresh water dolphins.
My suggestion
Take the time to walk round the town, cross the Mekong to go to the island opposite, and take a bike ride - nothing better for learning to live at the same nonchalant pace as the Cambodians.

Refreshing Sen Monorom, perched on its plateau...
The plateau where Sen Monorom is located is about 3000 feet above sea level, making it a cool region for Cambodia. The climate plays a particularly important role and you'll need to consider it in your travel plans. The rainy season makes access to the town complicated because of landslides.
