Nafplio is the seaside town of Athenians.

My suggestion:
Avoid visiting Acronafplia in full sun.
Summary:

I was surprised by the atmosphere in Nafplio. It's really a lovely town. The seafront promenade is always full of people, but there are numerous bars and restaurants where it's good to stop and where the view is magnificent. From some of them, you can see all the bay of Nafplio, notably the little island of Bourtzi, which it's possible to explore by boat. There's a choice of companies which depart from the pretty marina.

Furthermore, I like the old town a lot. There are lots of boutiques which are worth the detour down the beautiful alleys. I'd say Nafplio is a town to visit during atrip to Greece.

I went on foot to Acronafplia, which is a citadel in ruins. The view over the bay is very beautiful. It's also possible to stroll around the fort of Palamidi, which overlooks the town.

Breathtaking view from Nafplio
