Situated at 25km southeast of Oaxaca this little town and its 6,000 habitants are known for their traditional textile production.

My suggestion:
Avoid the guided tours; you'll appreciate the freedom to visit the workshops you choose and buy traditional items directly from the craftsperson.
Summary:
Local traditions hark back to Aztec times and the religious fervour of this ancient civilization. Today, Teotitlán del Valle is known for its weaving and dye techniques usually undertaken by the women, who use natural dyes made from indigo, cochineal and moss. The range of designs is impressive - Zapotec gods, Mitla geometric forms as well as motifs that resemble modern day artists such as Rivera and Picasso. But not everything here is as traditional as you'd like. You need to make sure that you're not taken for a ride.
