Honeymoon travels around the "magic villages" in Mexico

More so than just spending a honeymoon on one of the white sand beaches in Mexico, lets go a bit of the beaten track. The minister of Tourism has developed an enchanting technique: "los pueblos mágicos", lets go on a trip towards the magic towns of Mexico.

Magic villages are extremely numerous. We find them in all regions of Mexico. Here, I would like to present two to you which seemed particularly interesting for a unique honeymoon in Mexico . But, each one of the "pueblos mágicos", has something unique to see!

In Chiapas

San Cristobal de las Casas is a city situated in the fertile valleys of Chiapas. This southern state of Mexico is well known for its strong native population. The descendants of the Mayans hold unique customs and traditions which are interesting to visit once there. Amongst others, there are excursions organised to San Juan Chamula and San Lorenzo Zinacantan. You will also find in San Cristobal the villagers, because they come to San Cristobal to sell their handicrafts to tourists. It is true that the city of San Cristobal is a famous landmark for travellers. It is more than a town, in this sense it is about being a city and not simply a village. But, for its exceptional value, it forms part of the list of pueblos mágicos. In fact, it is a matter of one of these colonial cities being the most well conserved in the country.

A bohemian atmosphere reigns in San Cristobal de las Casas. It is a cultural time that you can spend in love , with the discovery of colored back alleys, of the rich history, as well as the unique traditions of this pueblo mágico.

Suytun Cenote, near to Valladolid

In the southern point of Yucatan

See here another superb colonial city: Valladolid. After having gone through the historical centre and having learnt a bit more about the rich history of the city, it is good to rejoin nature! One of the particular things in the first town founded in Yucatan is the cenotes. The cenotes are cavities where fresh water has gathered in pools of crystalline water. There are several in the outskirts, and these are places which are frankly perfect to spend an afternoon in love.

As well as these cenotes and its historical centre, Valladolid is situated very near to the famous Mayan pyramids, Chitchen Itza.

Finally, the magic villages in Mexico all have a something that explains the interest in making a stop there. A visit to one of these will make your wedding trip an authentic cultural moment that you won't soon forget.
