The best time to go to Iceland is in the summer: the temperatures are pleasant and the days are long. Depending on the region you are going to, you can also go in May or September, when there are fewer tourists and the climate is still pleasant, but be warned: some trips and sites are closed during these months. Between October and April, the country is nearly always in darkness, but you can see the magnificent aurora borealis if you are ready to brave the cold and the night.

Using downtown Reykjavik as my base, I took several tours, which were amazing. The 'gourmand walking tour' was excellent; make sure you are really hungry! A morning spent at Perlan was awesome, and great value - though I did not see the Northern Lights 'in the wild' the planetarium show made up for it; the ice cave was brilliant. And - adored the Blue Lagoon.

We loved Iceland, despite the sometimes bad weather. The waterfalls were great but the highlights were the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. The Geyser area was just OK. The greenhouses were very interesting.

The snowy Iceland Tourane was gorgeous with the frozen waterfalls just beautiful. The people of Iceland were very friendly while most of the accommodations were comfortable. Patrizia with Evaneos was the best travel agent to have. She was thorough and very caring, she even answered questions while we were on tour! Thank you so much for making our adventure in Iceland wonderful from beginning to end.
