Hekla is a volcano found in the south of the country. Icelanders have mixed feelings about this volcano: curiosity mixed with apprehension, as it's Iceland most unpredictable and active volcano.
In 2010, after Eyjafjallajökull had erupted and during my first holiday in Icelandword on the street was that Hekla was likely to be the next volcano to erupt. It became the talking point of anyone who found themselves close to its summit, particularly amongst those undertaking the one day hike to its peak - a popular pastime, despite the risks.
I haven't as yet climed the mountain, although I catch up on the latest news and enjoy admiring it from afar whenever I'm in the south of the country.
