Neltner refuge was named after Louis Neltner, an important French geologist and climber in the 1930s. It changed its name in 1997 and became the Toubkal refuge.
To get to the refuge it's a 4 hour trip from d’Imlil. But be careful, the path is steep, tiring and rocky. You could call it a lot of hard work but there is a superb view over the jagged ridges of Assif n’Moursaïne and especially on Jbel Toubkal.
Some people told me that the refuge was completely renovated in the 1990s, and new amenities were installed to make it more modern. But I think some insulation work could be done, as I found Neltner refuge very humid which is not very pleasant after a hard day's walking.
