A peaceful haven in the heart of the Atlas that's well off the beaten track.

My suggestion:
Finally, check out the school - the teachers will love having a chat and may well offer you a guided tour.
Summary:

If endless visits and activities are your thing, then give this one a miss. Apart from the school that I visited, thanks to the generosity of the teachers, Amsouzart's charm is the peace and quiet it has to offer. If you have the time, climb up to the stunning Lake Ifni, which is surrounded by mountains. It takes about an hour and a half by foot.

From the terrace of the house where I stayed, I had a stunning view of ochre-coloured mountains and a green valley that rose above the river below. Only the sound of running water and a cock crowing broke the silence. If, during your trip to Morocco, you want to get away from it all, then this is the place to be. You'll easily find someone to put you up and serve you delicious, traditional dishes in return for a few quid.

Once a week, the main road in Amsouzart holds a market: sellers from across the neighbouring valleys come to sell their wares. They may stare at you...tourists aren't that common a sight in this neck of the woods. That said, it actually makes it easier to strike up a conversation. Make sure you stop for a cup of tea in one of the numerous cafes that line the market.
