If you go there in May, you can enjoy "Donia", the island's annual festival. A plethora of Malagasy and other Indian Ocean island artists put on quite a show.

But locally, there is more to discover than just the beaches... 20 minutes by boat from Hell-Ville (the capital of Nosy Be), you can explore the Lokobe peninsula. Its northern part is an "integrated nature reserve" that will soon be available to the public. The southern part offers 2-3 hour tours to discover the primary forest. For couples, why not take a horseback ride with Ambaro Ranch. Here's your chance to go places that cannot be accessed by motorised vehicles! Finally, just 30 minutes from Hell-Ville is Mont Passot and its breathtaking panoramic view of the island. Before you reach the top, you can admire something rare: a teakwood forest.
Nosy Be is also home to one of the most famous rums in the world: Dzama rum, very aromatic because the sugarcane roots intermingle with the nearby ylang ylang and clove roots...
