Ifasina is a small village of the High Plateaus of the Fianarantsoa region and consists of rows of small wooden houses.
My suggestion:
Don't miss the opportunity to admire the wood carving of the village craftsmen.
Summary:
The inhabitants of the village belong to the Zafimaniry tribe, who are famous for wood carving and handicrafts. Their skill has been listed as "Intangible Cultural Heritage" by Unesco. The quality of the work of this tribe is found on the doors and shutters of the houses, which are often entirely and beautifully carved.
Ifasina is generally visited during treks in Zafimaniry country which leave from Antoetra in the direction of the many villages of the region. The trail leads through breathtaking mountains and magnificent scenery. The arrival at the hamlet begins with a presentation to the village chief and is the opportunity to discover the customs of the inhabitants. The departure is accompanied by the children of the village who merrily see visitors off on their journey.
