I was positively surprised by Ciudad Bolivar. Thinking of doing a quick stopover there between two destinations, I chose to spend a limited time there, which I filled well, nevertheless. Ciudad Bolivar is a historic town which is lovely to visit. I liked to walk in the alleys to admire the architectural style and the colourful facades.
Ciudad Bolivar is on the edge of the Orinoco River, a river with one of the most important flows in the world. You go along it on the Paseo Orinoco promenade. I found the view very beautiful at the end of the day with the sunset. There you can have a drink or something to eat, but ask the locals as the service is irregular. Finally, if you want to organise an outing to <a href="/venezuela/">Angel Falls</a>, <a href="/venezuela/">Canaima National Park</a> or the Amazon region, you're in the right place.
