When visiting Capetown, regardless of where you are, you will always have a view of the surprisingly flat mountain that dominates the city, often covered in its "cloth" of clouds (hence the name "Table Mountain"). If you want to contemplate the view from above there are several options available to you: the cable car or climbing the trail. A return trip is relatively expensive, but if you wish to go to the top without paying too much, I recommend that you go up by cable car and walk back down the trail (fast enough to climb but of no particular interest as it is in a gorge). For lovers of walks, you will have your fair share! From the top, the view of the city is magnificent. I cannot really tell you about the sea view, which should also beautiful, because when I was there, there was a fog that you could cut with a knife and a sizeable wind. Moreover, when there is too much wind, the cable car is stopped. When I made my way towards the youth hostel where I was staying, the Table was clear again... as if it chose that moment! For my part, I came by way of Kirstenbosch Gardens. If you like a little bit of walking and off the beaten track, I would like to recommend that you take this route. You will enjoy the sensational and unique flora that grows up there (so many flowers that I have never seen!), classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. From flora that is a little lacking to rushes and moss near to the extremity of the Table, you pass progressively through a flora more and more rich, very original, which borders a charming trail passing through the middle of large grey rocks, very pretty and imposing. <a></a>

The photo of the view over Cape Town from Table Mountain will always remain one of the most beautiful images from my <a href="/south-africa/">trip to South Africa</a>. The summit can be reached on foot in a little over three hours if you're fit enough. If not, you can travel up by cable car instead. I recommend the first option, as it makes for a very beautiful walk. Once at the summit, you'll be able to admire views of Cape Town, which extends right to the ocean. It's quite superb. If simply contemplating the panoramic views is not enough for you, then I recommend heading off along the many hiking trails available. In summary, the trip up Table Mountain is one of the essential things to do when visiting Cape Town.
