Situated between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park, Blyde River Canyon is a subtropical paradise in the heart of Mpumalanga.
My suggestion:
Hiring a car will give you the freedom to explore the region at your own pace. A much better option than going on organized tours, which tend to only stop there for a couple of hours on the return leg of a trip to the Kruger Park.
Summary:
You only need to see the number of tourist coaches during peak hours to realize that Blyde River Canyon has become a
South African tourist hotspot.
