Reviews of Thanda Game Reserve

This luxury private reserve is situated in the Kwazulu Natal province, near Hluhluwe. It stretches over 14,000 hectares and only contains five star lodges. We were really able to observe the 'Big 5' and all the safari wildlife.

My suggestion:
Book at least a three-night stay, note that prices are all inclusive (full board, transfers within the park, with two safaris reserved per day, one in the morning and one at night).
Summary:

This private reserve is exceptional due to its great vastness and its exclusivity for a happy few. The animals are not disturbed by tourist vehicles; only the lodge's rangers and their pick-ups are allowed to move around.

I really enjoyed my stay at this reserve. Regardless of your chosen lodge, you are pampered by the staff, both in terms of the standard of accommodation (the luxurious afro-chic bungalows are unique, comfort is key), and the swimming pools or the view of the watering holes below the main lodge. In the evening, we dined around the boma, the camp fire, on gourmet game dishes (the kudu is excellent).

The game drives were also excellent. I saw the 'Big 5', the leopard being the most difficult to spot, because the rangers communicate by radio and are quick to react. Of course, they have vast experience of the bush and animal know-how to share.
