The Caprivi Strip is an area 19 ml wide and 280 ml long, located in Namibia's Caprivi region. It is bordered by Angola, Botswana and Zambia and leads to Victoria Falls .
My suggestion:
It is not advisable for you to go all the way to Zimbabwe by car passing through the Caprivi Strip as the entry tax on cars is too expensive. Go as far as Kasane , then take a tour from there.
Summary:
I loved the Caprivi Strip, because you go across it first and foremost to visit this magnificent panhandle area (land peninsula bordered by rivers). And also, while on a trip to Namibia, to get to really nearby Victoria Falls. You feel like you are really entering this quite wide area that encompasses the falls and the Okavango delta, very rich in swirling fresh water and wild fauna.
The Caprivi Strip is visited by car or organised tour, for it is complicated to get around by minibus to visit reserves. The road is tarred and in reasonably good condition so there is no need to hire a 4x4.
As you go across it you must absolutely stop at Bwabwata National Park for the Popa Falls , as well as Mahangu Game Reserve in close proximity, to watch elephants, buffaloes, hippopotamuses and crocodiles, as well as close to 450 birds that live there. You can also stop at Mudumu National Park , on the other side of the strip, before passing into Botswana.
