The highlight of a trip to the Berghoua dunes is a visit to the Erg Zahar dunes by camel. I felt like I was taking a star turn in the film Tea in Sahara, , whilst crossing the sands as part of a camel caravan. During the journey to Erg Zahar I even crossed a 'hamada' or rocky Saharan plateau. The landscape is dotted with dunes as far as the eye can see. Some call them the 'wailing dunes' as they announce the splendours of these desert lands. The Erg Zahar dunes form one of the most beautiful parts of the Sahara Desert. I found myself in the heart of a breathtaking, fascinating scene; a hypnotic, lunar landscape that was simply out of this world.
