Demnate is a little town midway between Marrakesh and the Ait Bouguemmez Valley. It's above all a stopping off point.

I came to Demnate because this town was on my route between Ouarzazate and the Ait Bouguemmez Valley. So it was just a stopping off point even though I made the most of it to go and see the city's famous mellah (Jewish neighbourhood). Like in several towns in Morocco, this type of neighbourhood is more of historical and memorial interest than anything else because now it's no more than a residential area in a bad condition. That being said, mellahs are usually characterised by the presence of balconies or windows which are a little bigger than in the other areas. So you can make the most of a visit to observe this feature. I also went to the Imi-n-Ifri natural bridge. The site is pleasant and though we're talking about Demnate, you might as well make a little detour to this place. Demnate is quite an authentic stopping off point even though there's not a great deal to see there besides the daily life of a little town in the High Atlas Mountains. This stop will be appreciated more by those who like local meetings during their<a href="/morocco/"> stay in Morocco</a>.
