This city, fortified by the Berbers, is home to many architectural treasures. The ramparts, which date back to the twelfth century and protected the town from the attacks of that time, bring a special atmosphere.
I went to the Bab Rih side of the upper city and enjoyed the view from its gate; plantations and chains of mountains giving way to the forest of Tazzeka.
I then went to visit the Medina in Taza which also offers a beautiful view of the region. This was the first time I had discovered a Medina within a Ksar, I enjoyed it very much. The Grand Mosque and its minaret reveals the beauty of the Almohad architecture; inside you will discover the one of the oldest bronze chandeliers in the country (entry reserved for Muslims).
I did not have time to visit the region of Tazzeka which appears to be verdant countryside, ideal for hiking. If you travel there, do not forget to visit the famous Friouato chasm and the surrounding caves.
