Nowadays, Berenty reserve is famous for its numerous species of lemur, most of which are used to having humans around and so give visitors an unforgettable show. The protected area is also home to 6 species of lemur, bats, and birds, but also turtles, chameleons and reptiles. The colonial atmosphere here can be a bit surprising, as can certain practices such as the introduction of invasive plant species which are dangerous for lemurs. Fortunately, things are changing little by little and the reserve is worth a visit, even if it's just to see lemurs up close and enjoy their funny dances along the paths. What's more, the employees and the guides are very professional and really willing to make sure you have a great stay in this region of the Great Island.
