The biosphere of this national park is exceptionally rich! Thirteen species of lemurs inhabit its primary forest, which harbours more than 1200 species of plants, including 40 different species of palm trees. There are 17 rodent species that are typical of rainforests and the greatest density of micro-mammals in the east. You can admire 77 species of birds, including the elegant Hitsikitsika or Madagascar kestrel, which is sung of in Malagasy nursery rhymes. As for the sea, it is a kaleidoscope of aquatic treasures: There are 132 species of corals, 179 species of fish... and with a little luck, you will catch a glimpse of the amiable dugong! Between July and September, humpback whales come to reproduce in its waters... so, it is best to choose this season to discover this region of Madagascar.
