Mount Fuji (Japan)

Undoubtedly, Mount Fuji is one of my most significant memories from my trip to Japan. Not only for having discovered this perfectly formed mountain, photographed time and time again, but for having approached it... and even climbed it! There you have it: one of the experiences that make up one of the most magical memories of a trip to Japan. A climb that lasts several hours which starts at the end of the day, with the aim of reaching the summit of Mount Fuji 7 or 8 hours later, to watch the sunrise at dawn with a panoramic view.

No need for a guide, the climb can be done by anyone in good physical condition, it's above all motivation which will make the real difference. I only ask future travellers to familiarise themselves well with the amount of time that will be necessary for them to reach the summit, because leaving too early in the evening would mean you arrive 1 or 2 hours before sunrise and believe me, sitting down without moving at 3,776 metres is frankly really tough! If you leave too late then you will quite simply miss the sunrise... It's all about timing!

It's also possible to sleep in the shelters along the trail.

Finally just for your information, "Fujiyama" is an incorrect name from the West. If you want to be understood by the Japanese, use the real local name of "Fujisan".
