Zadar (Croatia)

Zadar is a town which immediately charmed me by the mix of architecture and the beauty of its seafront.

I spent 2 days in town, roaming the old streets filled with history and visiting the Saint Donat church with its distinctive design, the archaeological museum and the ancient ruins of the old town. But the town is not just a museum town, it is full of cafes and bars to go out in, the best is managing to find a table facing the sea! 

In Zadar, the locals and tourists all meet at sunset, in front of the sea organs. This structure, created by Nicolas Basic, produces strange melodies thanks to the waves, and the view over the sea is amazing. Of course you can go on excursions to nearby islands or simply relax on the Borik beach. 

And if you want to meet locals, go to the old town on a boat steered by a barkajoli, a crossing that they used to do exactly the same 800 years ago! It is surely the best memory of this trip with lovely conversation during the crossing.
