Located on the North coast of Ilha Grande, the Green Lagoon on the island's most popular destinations. Its tourist name (as opposed to its geographical name: Ilha da Longa) describes the colour of the water of this beach.
My suggestion:
Fellow scuba divers, this place is for you! The Green Lagoon is one of the best diving spots on the island. You can swim there amongst the fish and discover the marine wildlife better than anywhere else at Ilha Grande.
Summary:
From Abrao, it's often suggested to tour the island by boat. By stopping at the main beaches, it's the ideal solution for those who don't have the time to do all the hikes.
Heading out for the day on a small boat with around ten other people, the Green Lagoon was, without doubt, my favourite stop on this boat trip. Although the water is frozen (the Green Lagoon is on the northern front of the island), I loved being able to swim amongst fish and go scuba diving for the first time in my life.
It's a shame the place is overrun by tourists. I arrived there early but very quickly other disembarked boats made the beach far too overcrowded to enjoy it.
