It's not rare to find, in the middle of the city centre, an "arara" - a parrot - and ripe mangos which simply need to be picked... Here, incidentally, Brazilians proudly state that bananas, avocados, mangos and other exotic fruits are not bought, but rather they are hand-picked from branches. The locals' favourite fruit is the açaí palm. It comes from palm trees, and the Brazilians turn it into juice. Its colour is quite strange, dark purple, and its taste, take it or leave it.
As for the architecture, Cuiabà inherits colonial remains. The city is overrun by agricultural areas where soya is cultivated. Amazing natural parks enable you to take a deep breath in the fresh air away from the busy traffic. Close your eyes in one of these parks to completely forget that you are in the heart of the city.
