The town itself didn't really do much for me. There's nothing particularly interesting to do, apart from sunbathing on the beach! The beach itself is, in my view, the only thing that Quy Nhon has going for it. It's beautiful but not that clean, which is a shame! From 6 p.m. onwards, it comes alive as the Vietnamese population arrives. Beach volleyball, swimming, jogging, sandcastles with the kids: it's a very family-friendly atmosphere. I was able to join in with the activities without difficulty. You can sip fruit juice and sugar cane juice in little improvised bars that have popped up all along the beach.
Apart from that, the town's not worth going out of your way for. I had been to see the Cham towers but there was nothing spiritually uplifting about the visit.
Nouveau-riche Vietnamese and foreign tourists come here to spend a week in hotels drinking cocktails on the balcony and enjoying the view! As for the restaurants, you can eat whatever you want.
I was lucky enough to travel around the area surrounding Quy Nhon by car. The landscapes are so stunning that you could almost forget the concrete hotels all along the beach! If you have the opportunity, you'll see the deserted beaches and experience how much more helpful the inhabitants are.
