Lidköping is a university town that's totally off the beaten path, southwest of Stockholm.

My suggestion:
Rent a car to get around Lidköping, which you can do in no time.
Summary:

During my trip to Sweden, I visited a friend who was on an Erasmus exchange at the University of Lidköping. As such, I enjoyed my stay in this little university town south of Stockholm, but I am not sure that a tourist would find anything to do.

All the same, there are some nice things to see. Läckö Castle, not far from town, seems to come straight out of a fairytale. The Rörstrand Centre Museum has some beautiful pieces on display. Finally, Kinda Kanal is a very bucolic place especially when it's sunny.

Strangely, Lidköping also left an impression on me because of its cuisine. You’ll find some good restaurants in this city, often with cosy decor (but beware, they close early), as well as nice little cafes where you can take a "fika" - or a coffee break - at any time of the day.
