Known for being the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca, between Peru and Bolivia, is a traveller's dream... and they come in numbers! And yes, that being the case, the islands of Lake Titicaca are very touristic areas, in particularly on the Peruvian coast.
If you are looking for a bit of peace and quite, you have two options: favour the Bolivian coast or head to Capachica. And yes, Titicaca Lake is quite big (8,372 km²) for everyone! Advised by a traveller who we met during our trip in Bolivia, we were eager to discover the charming village of Capachica where we spent the night staying with a host.
Amongst hikes and local encounters, we enjoyed the peninsula. Similarly to their lakeside neighbours, the inhabitants of Capachica make a living from agriculture, fishing and tourism. It is true that the village is relatively peaceful but we knew that we were going to come across a hoard of tourists on the most famous islands, such as Taquile and <a href="/peru/">Uros</a>. 
A pleasant stay between relaxing and meeting the local population. Without forgetting the delicious trout-based meals. A real treat!
