A small Norwegian village (approximately 250 inhabitants) in the heart of the mountains and near Geirganger Fjord which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
My suggestion:
In the daytime dozens of cruise ships stop in the port. If you want to enjoy this superb place and its fjords in a more peaceful atmosphere then spend a night there - there are lots of places to stay.
Summary:
You really should not miss a cuise on, or a visit to, Geirangerfjord, the landscapes are magnificent and very impressive. Throughout the cruise you can see waterfalls, and imposing mountains that are up to 2,000 m high. You can also get to Geiranger by car, along the panoramic "Trolls' Path" between Geiranger and Trollstigen, which is only open in summer and is one of the most beautiful roads in the world.
If you can, take the time to go walking in the area, and climb up a bit so you can have a panorama of the fjord and its surroundings. You can also rent canoes and bikes there for exploring the region a bit more.
It's real picture postcard country and a perfect example of Norwegian fjords!
