Phewa Lake is the jewel of Pokhara and the second largest lake in Nepal, after Rara Lake. On a clear day you can see the snowy peaks of Annapurna, Machapuchare and Hiunchuli reflected off the water. The views are stunning, particularly from the World Peace Pagoda, that you can reach via a small creek on the southern bank of the lake.
 I have very special memories of hours spent on the lake, fishing on a small boat hoping to catch my evening meal and wandering along its lush, green banks . If you're looking for a relaxing holiday , this is place to be!

I discovered the still waters of this lake upon my arrival at Pokhara just when the sun started to set on the horizon. It was a breathtaking sight! Some colourful fishing boats sit floating very still on calm waters which continually change colour depending on the setting sun and reflect, in a remarkable show, all the beauty of the sky, the moving shapes of the clouds in a purple and poignant hue of the setting sun. On the lake's shore in the heart of Pokhara, known as Lakeside, there are bars offering many fresh fruit juices or samosas which smell dangerously tempting. <a href="/nepal/">Ideal for a family trip</a>, hiring a rowing boat to reach one point or another on the lake can be a pleasant experience, but I personally chose to walk along the lake to distance myself a bit from the mellow touristy slumber and to escape on a few walks. You will be recommended some particularly interesting routes there for the panoramas they offer of the lake.

Phewa Tal, with reflective waters that are sometimes emerald, ochre, mauve or purple depending on the time of day, is the second largest lake in Nepal. Located in the Pokhara region, it is one of the main attractions for the people of the country.
