Mount Turgen rises above a vast semi-desertic landscape comprising of steppe and tundra.

My suggestion:
To visit Mongolia and find yourself here is like reaching the world's end. You'll need to sort out transport once you're in the area (Ulaangom's a good place to do so), otherwise you can always ask a local agent.
Summary:

You can reach the glaciers of Mount Turgen from Ulaangom to the northeast or from Bayshint to the west. It takes at least a day by bus or car to reach the base of the glacier. There are several trails in this area where the blend of stunning scenery and complete solitude only add to the impression of an infinite landscape.

This part of Mongolia is referred to as the 'Great Lakes Depression' and there are several beautiful lakes that you can tour. Lake Uvs, to the north, is the largest in Mongolia. Make sure you wrap up warm, as the temperature differences are the most extreme in all of Asia. It can even get really cold in summer - occasionally it snows!
