A typical little piece of Mauritius at the heart of a town lying between Port Louis and Grand Baie …

My suggestion:
Pamplemousses is famous for its Botanical Garden, and as you'll undoubtedly want to visit and take a look around it, make sure you have some mosquito repellent with you!
Summary:

Pamplemousses is a typical town of northern Mauritius and lies between Port Louis and Grand Baie. I love the blend of different things it has to offer. The local inhabitants are used to large numbers of tourists visiting and I got the impression that they do everything they can to keep the typically Mauritian aspect of their town intact.

So why does Pamplemousses attract so many visitors? There is a Botanical Garden, which is one of Mauritius' main attractions, located in the centre of the town. With its huge, gleaming white entrance gates, it's impossible to miss, and it's definitely worth a visit for anyone who enjoys green, verdant spaces. However, what I personally prefer doing when visiting Pamplemousses is taking photos of the roadside stallholders, the old buses that are still in service here, and the local inhabitants, who are always ready and willing to have a quick chat to find out where you come from, where you're staying, how long your trip is and which places you are planning to visit. It's wonderful!
