A seaside resort as delightful to tourists as it is to the locals, and an ideal place to come to get to meet and know wonderful people.

My suggestion:
If you visit during the whale season, go out in a boat from Flic en Flac: you may be lucky enough to spot some of these giants of the sea.
Summary:

A seaside village in Mauritius, Flic en Flac has quickly become the second most visited tourist site on the island. And it has to be said that with its lagoon, which literally teems with fish, and the fact the village faces due west and thus treats visiting holidaymakers to the pleasure of wonderful sunsets, the place certainly isn't lacking in charm. The Mauritians are certainly not wrong in making the beach at Flic en Flac their favourite weekend destination. By being sociable and just talking to people a little, I managed to get away from the usual tourist experience and make some local friends with whom I was able to spend the evenings.

I was actually lucky enough to see a passing pod of whales with young calves in tow during a boat trip I went on. The spectacle of the enormous tail of a mother whale slapping down with a mighty splash and a spray of foam was the highlight of my trip to Mauritius.
