Lumut is a small town on Malaysia's west coast. It's home to Malaysia's largest naval base.

My suggestion:
Don't hang around in this uninteresting harbour town - you're best hopping on a ferry to Pangkor Island.
Summary:

Unless you're interested in naval bases, I don't thing there's much else to do in Lumut. I spent a few hours here whilst waiting for a ferry to Pangkor Island. The town looks like any other in this part of Malaysia. There are a few beaches, but they're no way near as beautiful as others you'll find in the country. The Royal Malaysian Navy have set up their largest naval base on the Manjung River estuary. You'll see some impressive warships.

Lumut is useful if you need to find somewhere for the night, so as not to miss the ferry to Pangkor. That aside, I don't see any reason to linger.
