Situated in the volcanic region of Myvatn, Viti is a beautiful crater that is good for a pleasant hike.

My suggestion:
Park in the parking lot and go walking as far as the foot of the crater.
Summary:

I was unlucky, the day that I wanted to go to Viti Crater, it was raining heavily and so it is warmly wrapped up in my parka and waterproof trousers that I did the hike.

Fortunately, it stopped raining on the way and I was able to enjoy the sight of this almost perfect circle, filled with water of a strong metallic blue. Viti is one of the formations inheritedfrom the eruption of nearby Krafla volcano. You can go round it on foot.

The visit to the crater is not very long, there is indeed a parking lot not far away and it is possible to prolong the walk to the Leirhnjúkur geothermal site that has spectacular ochre colours on one side and dark flowing lava on the other.
