Insilibi is a small, peaceful village, surrounded by mountains, that is hiding on the Quilotoa trekking loop, at an altitude of 2,900 m. For walkers only!

My suggestion:
There are several ways to get to Insilibi : by bus from Sigchos (2 hours), or Latacunga (3 hours) or, of course, on foot from Sigchos (4 hours) or Chugchilan (also 4 hours).
Summary:

I spent 3 weeks at Insilibi. Astonishing for such a small village lost in the middle of the Ecuadorian Andes, but I found a job in one of the inns in the village. So for three weeks I shared my daily life with Gladys, the woman in charge, and her 5 children. The two of us we were responsible for looking after the walkers, most of whom only stayed the night.

There wasn't much to do in the village but I quickly became a regular in some of the small shops and I also enjoyed going for a walk when the schools came out.

Every day I had a few free hours so I also went walking in the surrounding area, often alone except for a few yapping dogs on my heels and some serious doubts about whether I had taken the right path - not my favourite souvenirs...But I loved spending time with the family at the inn and I was sad when it was time to leave them after three weeks. But new adventures were waiting for me in the rest of the country...
