To the north of Guangxi Province, you'll find the spectacular Longji terraced rice fields, which comprise of two halves, the terraces at Ping'an and those at Jinkeng (Dazhai).
Summary:
The small hamlet of Tiantouzhai is perched on a magnificent landscape. It's one of the many minority villages (most are Zhaung and Yao) that sit amongst the rolling hills of Longsheng.
At less than an hour's walk from Dazhai, the Yao village of Tiantouzhai has panoramic views over its neighboring rice fields. You can help from porters if you want to stay overnight in a guest house or with a local family.
From Tiantouzhai Dazhai, you'll find numerous hiking trails that meander through paddy fields to join nearby minority villages - the perfect opportunity to learn about the customs and lifestyles of the inhabitants. The most popular is the 3 to 5 hour Dazhai to Ping'an hike.
